The York College Honors Community is for students who are ready to start making a mark on the world from day one. We call it a “community” rather than a program because our students have built a strong, caring, and cohesive group that supports one another. Among the many benefits, the opportunity to work with other motivated and innovative students, as well as a deeply engaged group of faculty, is perhaps the most important ingredient in the success of our Honors Community.
Each group of scholars and fellows receive specific benefits, but all members of the Honors Community share:

a desire to enhance their education through “real-world” and experiential education,
empathy toward working with and learning from diverse groups and
an interest in engaging with the York community.

Honors Community Questions

The Honors Community is a diverse and interdisciplinary group that brings together a vast array of talents, skills, and abilities. Students in this community emerge with more than an academic degree; they emerge with the record of leadership and proven success that all employers seek. They are leaders who can influence the general population of students at York College.

As a potential participant in this community, we would like you to briefly answer the following questions. Your answers should be limited to about 200 words (about 10 sentences)—but don't worry if it is a bit shorter or longer.

If you could design your own college class that would help prepare students to be more engaged and active citizens, what would it be called and what would people learn in that class? Why do you think this is an important and/or overlooked area of learning?

What experiences have you had with people that are different from you in some way (other cultures, other orientations, etc.)? What did those experiences teach you? How might you want to share those experiences?

If you could pick the college students you would like to work with as part of the Honors Community, what would they be like? What would be their primary characteristics? Why are those traits important? And what makes you ready (and excited) to contribute to a team like this?

A select number of Graham Collaborative Innovation Fellowships are reserved for business students, providing access to specialized advising by Graham School of Business faculty and countless opportunities to collaborate with students in other majors.

The Graham School of Business (GSB) Honors Program includes:

A dedicated faculty advisor from the Graham School of Business
Opportunities to collaborate and work with students from other majors to problem-solve and achieve goals with lasting impact
3+1 Program: Students studying either General Business or Business Administration can earn both a bachelor's degree and a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership Management in as few as four years total. (Some summer classes are required.)
