2023 York College Alumni Association Scholarship- Current Students

For more than 30 years, the Alumni Association has recognized the special relationship that exists when different generations of the same family are represented at York College. During that time, more than 450 students have received Alumni Association Scholarships. We support our Legacy students.

Criteria for the Alumni Association Scholarship:

Students must have an alumnus/alumna relative. This can be a parent, grandparent, sibling, or other blood relative. The only non-blood relatives that are valid for eligibility are spouses and stepparents.
Students must have a financial need or have experienced hardship.
Students will need to share their activities and experiences including academic achievements and school & community involvement.
Students must submit the FAFSA (as appropriate). York College's code is 003399.
An alumni sponsor must write a letter of recommendation in support.
All students must be enrolled in their first-degree program and not seeking a second degree.
All students must have a minimum G.P.A of 3.0.

Alumni Sponsorship Letter

If you have applied for the Alumni Association Scholarship in the past and already have a letter of reference on file with the Office of Alumni Relations, it is not required to submit another letter.

An alumni sponsor must write a letter of recommendation in support of your application. Please upload your letter of recommendation or have the letter emailed to alumni@ycp.edu.

The reference letter can be just a few paragraphs long, describing your accomplishments, why you are deserving of an Alumni Association scholarship and can include any information that isn't asked on the application.

Alumni Scholarships are awarded by the Alumni Board of Directors, who will determine the
amount and number of scholarships being awarded based on the number of applications received
and the financial need of the applicants. The exact amount is determined by the availability of
funds in a given fiscal year.

understand that providing false information will disqualify me from consideration for an Alumni
Scholarship. I further understand that the Alumni Board of Directors may revise or adjust the
amount of my scholarship award based on the following conditions: availability of funds, changes
in my student status, or changes in the financial status of my family and/or myself.

Finally, I understand that the Alumni Board of Directors may, at its discretion, change the rules and
criteria for the selection and awarding of the Alumni Scholarships, provided that such changes can
be publicized in advance, apply only to future applications, and be uniformly applied to all
